The Short Circuit Gallery of Public Art is an initiative of the UFRJ Science Park and the
School of Fine Arts (EBA/UFRJ) that, since September 2017, has been transforming the
Park into an area of art experimentation, combined with technology and innovation.
Currently, the environment has 14 works displayed in an area of 350 thousand square
meters.
In December 2018, we opened the third cycle of the Short Circuit
Gallery of Public Art. During this new phase, the artists Joana Perez,
Paula Peregrina, Matheus Simões, Fátima Aguiar and the group formed
by Julie Pires, Marcelo Ribeiro, Francisco Freitas and Danielle Mendes
presented five new works inspired in different topics which vary from
gender diversity to environmental sustainability. They used different
techniques such as the bioconstruction and the augmented reality,
with the support of the Laboratory of Computational Methods in
Engineering (COPPE/UFRJ).
The second cycle of the Gallery was opened in June, 2018, with the
presentation of four works. In the second stage, the artists Bruno Life,
Cristiano Nogueira, Jandir Leite Moreira and Thales Valoura presented
their works inspired in childhood memories, choices and life dualities.
In the first stage of the project, sponsored by Vallourec, the Park
housed 16 works by both students and professors from the School of
Fine Arts (Escola de Belas Artes – EBA) as well as works made by
nationally and internationally renowned artists.
In addition, the Park houses twenty four sculptures of the exhibition
“Memórias do Boto” (Memories of the River Dolphin) and a pavilion
with interventions developed by the Laboratory of Models and Digital
Production (Laboratório de Modelos e Fabricação Digital - LAMO) and
by the Laboratory of Temporary Interventions and Tactical Urban
Planning (Laboratório de Intervenções Temporárias e Urbanismo
Tático - LabIT) of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning
(Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo - FAU/UFRJ). The exhibition is
permanent, access is free and open to the public.
