The COPPE/UFRJ Business Incubator was accredited by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication (MCTIC) to act as a facilitator of the Information Technology Law, which provides tax incentives for the industries that produce IT, automation and telecom products, and carry out R&D activities. The law provides tax incentives for the industries that carry out R&D activities with resident companies in accredited incubators. The COPPE/UFRJ Business Incubator will, for example, enable a company, which needs to invest in R&D to comply for legal requirement, to do this through joint projects with incubated companies and make the payment utilizing resources ensured by the Information Technology Law. For Regina Faria, COPPE/UFRJ Business Incubator coordinator, the measure will provide even more interaction opportunities between the residents and the large companies. “This accreditation in the MCTIC Information Technology Law is an excellent opportunity to increase the approximation of the information technology market with the Incubator startups to develop innovative products”, says Regina.
